Description
Boston Public Garden opened in 1837. Before that, there was much of nothing on the site. And also lots of politics involved. At one point, the state of Massachusetts wanted to build luxury homes on part of the property. By 1859, the shape of the garden is what it is today.
The Boston Public Garden was the first public botanical garden in the US.
