Description
An old jar partially filled with something unknown sits on a windowsill of the Pickwick Mill in Winona MN. No telling how long it has sat there. The mill was built around 1858 and initially used as a sawmill. It was later converted to a flour mill and was the first flour mill west of the Mississippi. It is now registered as a National Historic Landmark.
Though no longer used, I think the equipment is still functional. The mill waterwheel works. If you take the tour, they will turn it on so you can see the wheel in action.
The jar sits and watches the passage of time. It was autumn when we visited.
