Description
The City Hall (Palazzo Pubblico) and official government building of the Republic of San Marino. It is one of the 5 microstates in Europe, with a population of about 34k. It is completely surrounded by Italy and is located in the Apennine Mountains, more specifically on Monte Titano.
The official founding date is September 3, 301 by Saint Marinus. It's grown a little since its inception, but the borders haven't changed since 1463.
The history of San Marino is fascinating. It's the oldest constituional republic in the world. It made Abraham Lincoln an honorary citizens. San Marino had the first democratically elected communist government. (Not sure how that would work).
