Description
Standing in the city's Clock Tower, one can look down at the city below. Sighisoara Romania (located in the Transylvania region of the country) is a prime example of a fortified medieval town, and one of the few remaining. Part of the city, the citadel, is considred a World Heritage Site. A building right next to the Clock Tower is the birthplace of Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia, but better known to the world as Vlad the Impaler from whom Bram Stoker based his vampire character Count Dracula. The building was being used, at the time of my visit in 2006, as a restaurant.
The Clock Tower was built in the 13th century, the city had it's beginnings at the end of the 12th century. This is a day in the life cityscape scene, shoing the hustle and bustle of the modern day set in its medieval surroundings.
